A waist chain looks beautiful only when it fits well. Too tight and it pinches; too loose and it slides down or twists. The good news: measuring takes two minutes and needs only a tape or a piece of string, and every Adora.Style waist chain has its own size guide image on its product page, so you can match your measurement to the exact piece. Here is how to do it for every outfit.
Step 1: Decide where the chain will sit
The right length depends on where you wear it, because your body is a different size at different heights:
- Natural waist (the narrowest part, just above the navel): for sarees.
- Low waist (around the navel): for lehengas with a bare midriff and crop tops.
- Hips (the top of the hip bones): for dresses and a relaxed boho look.
Step 2: Measure
- Wear the outfit you plan to style the chain with, or at least the petticoat or skirt. A draped saree adds a little width at the waist.
- Wrap a soft measuring tape around the spot you chose. No tape? Use a string or a dupatta cord, mark where it meets, then measure it against a ruler or steel tape.
- Keep it snug but not tight. You should be able to slide one finger under it.
- Add 2 to 5 cm to this number if you want the chain to drape slightly and hang in a soft curve, which is how most festive waist chains look best.

Step 3: Match it to the size guide on the product page
Open the waist chain you like and scroll through its photos to the size guide image. It shows the chain's measurements in cm, so you can compare them with the number you just measured. Here are two examples:

Fit guide by outfit
| Outfit | Where it sits | Fit tip |
|---|---|---|
| Saree | Natural waist, over the drape | Snug, so it holds the pleats in place |
| Lehenga | Bare waist between blouse and skirt, or over the waistband | Slight drape for movement |
| Crop top and skirt | Just above the waistband | Slight drape, centred |
| Maxi or slip dress | Low on the hips | Loose drape, slightly to one side |
| Beachwear | Low waist or hips | Loose and light |

Common fit problems and quick fixes
- It keeps sliding down: wear it a little higher at your natural waist, where your body is narrowest.
- The charms twist to the back: centre the main charm before you close the clasp.
- It digs into the skin: wear it over the fabric instead of on bare skin, or a little lower on the hips.
- It catches on the saree: choose a smoother, flatter design for silk sarees, and save charm chains for lehengas.

Gifting a waist chain?
If you do not know her size, check the size guide image on the product page and pick a lighter style that can be worn at the waist or hips. That gives the widest range of fit.
